A 24-year-old registered sex offender in Lake County was arrested Tuesday after he was accused of molesting a girl.
According to a report, the mother of the child and the man are friends and the child frequently had unsupervised visits with the suspect and his girlfriend.
The mother apparently became suspicious and asked her daughter if anything inappropriate ever happened between her and the man.
The child told her mother and detectives that about a month and a half ago, the man took her and another girl on a truck ride into the woods, where he touched them over their clothing.
The child also alleges that the man touched her under her clothes with his fingers while she was on a couch. She also accused the man of exposing himself to her and making her perform a sexual act on him as he uttered “dirty things about sex” to her.
According to reports, the man told detectives the two had been wrestling and roughhousing and he was not touching her inappropriately.
Detectives were unable to identify the second girl.
