A couple was arrested Monday night after police allegedly caught them having sex in the middle of the square at Lake Sumter Landing in The Villages.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, reports were received regarding two people having sexual intercourse just after 10:30 p.m. Monday. When deputies arrived at the scene, a 49-year-old Summerfield man and a 68-year-old woman of The Villages were apparently engaged in sexual activity.
The report states that the man had his blue jeans and underwear around his ankles and that the woman’s pants were completely removed and her shirt was pulled down.
Deputies ordered the pair to put their clothing back on. They were both arrested for indecent exposure and disorderly conduct. They were released from the Sumter County jail after posting $1,500 bail each.
Investigators believe the couple was intoxicated. The report stated that the man has a prior DUI arrest.
Deputies said that the large crowds at Lake Sumter Landing had disappeared by 10:30 p.m. Monday, but that there were still many people there at the time the couple was having sex.
