A 9-year-old boy is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Cleveland and Masters avenues in Wildwood early Tuesday morning.
At 7:13 a.m., Sumter County Fire & EMS arrived at the scene to find the child 40 feet from the vehicle with severe injuries.
The boy was airlifted to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
The boy was apparently crossing the street when he was hit by a Dodge vehicle.
The accident is under the investigation by the Wildwood Police Department.
